The Michaëlle Jean Centre for Global and Community Engagement organizes an orientation and training session for uOttawa students to better prepare them to undertake local or international community service activities or to reflect on the experience they have lived. This training includes an online component (five modules) and an in person session. Students who are volunteering abroad can access these trainings.
International pre-departure training
The Centre helps students prepare for their departure abroad. This includes students with scholarships who don't have access to any other training before they leave. Topics include adapting to different cultures, service ethic, health and safety, among others. Check uOCal for all details.
The objective of debriefing is to provide a safe and non-judgemental environment for students who have participated in international initiatives to share their stories and experiences, the lessons they have learned and their key findings from their time abroad. Check uOCal for all details
